Launched under the SESAR 3 Joint Undertaking, DIALOG is exploring how artificial intelligence can become a trusted teammate for air traffic controllers — supporting decision-making in complex and safety-critical environments.
Over the past year, the consortium has:
- Defined operational use cases and user requirements together with active air traffic controllers.
- Collected multimodal datasets — including voice, eye-tracking, and heart rate data — to better understand workload and attention patterns.
- Begun developing early prototypes of DIALOG’s core services: the Intent Inferring Service (IIS), the Teammate Awareness Service (TAS), and the Teamwork Assistant.
This milestone represents a key step toward testing the DIALOG solution in operational environments and refining its human-centred design.
