A step forward toward human-AI collaboration grounded in trust, situational awareness, and real-time cognitive understanding.<\/em><\/p>\n<h4 data-start=\"542\" data-end=\"903\"><strong data-start=\"542\" data-end=\"594\">Can AI truly support air traffic controllers?<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p data-start=\"542\" data-end=\"903\">In a high-stakes operational environment like air traffic control, the answer isn\u2019t just technical \u2014 it\u2019s deeply human. Introducing AI into the radar room isn\u2019t about replacement; it\u2019s about <strong data-start=\"788\" data-end=\"817\">intelligent collaboration<\/strong>: how can a machine understand <em data-start=\"848\" data-end=\"854\">when<\/em> and <em data-start=\"859\" data-end=\"864\">how<\/em> to assist a controller under pressure?<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"905\" data-end=\"1187\">That\u2019s the real-world challenge that gave rise to <strong data-start=\"955\" data-end=\"965\">DIALOG<\/strong>, an EU-funded project under SESAR 3 JU. Its ambitious goal? To develop <strong data-start=\"1037\" data-end=\"1121\">a digital assistant that works side-by-side with ATCOs (Air Traffic Controllers)<\/strong>, identifying their needs in real time and responding accordingly.<\/p>\n<h4 data-start=\"1194\" data-end=\"1545\"><strong data-start=\"1194\" data-end=\"1246\">DIALOG at ANACNA: Where theory meets practice<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p data-start=\"1194\" data-end=\"1545\">At the XXX ANACNA Delegates Congress, held in Rome in April 2025, <strong data-start=\"1315\" data-end=\"1336\">Nicola Cavagnetto<\/strong> from <strong data-start=\"1342\" data-end=\"1355\">Deep Blue<\/strong> presented DIALOG as a flagship example in a session on human factors and innovation in ATM. The event gathered around 100 professionals from across Italy\u2019s air traffic management community.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1547\" data-end=\"1577\">This appearance allowed us to:<\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"1578\" data-end=\"1779\">\n<li data-start=\"1578\" data-end=\"1651\">\n<p data-start=\"1580\" data-end=\"1651\">Demonstrate <strong data-start=\"1592\" data-end=\"1651\">how AI can help operational staff in real-life contexts<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1652\" data-end=\"1710\">\n<p data-start=\"1654\" data-end=\"1710\">Collect feedback and perceptions directly from the field<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1711\" data-end=\"1779\">\n<p data-start=\"1713\" data-end=\"1779\">Strengthen the bridge between <strong data-start=\"1743\" data-end=\"1779\">research, operations, and policy<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4 data-start=\"1786\" data-end=\"2039\"><strong data-start=\"1786\" data-end=\"1850\">Real innovation means understanding the controller\u2019s mind<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p data-start=\"1786\" data-end=\"2039\">DIALOG goes beyond introducing new technologies. Its true value lies in <strong data-start=\"1925\" data-end=\"1957\">putting people at the center<\/strong>, creating a system that can <em data-start=\"1986\" data-end=\"2004\">listen and adapt<\/em>.
