In the HERON project, Peter Green <\/strong>from EUROCONTROL<\/strong><\/a> leads the work of Work Package (WP) 4 \u201cStandardisation and Regulation Evolution<\/strong><\/a>\u201d, aiming to ensure safety, compliance, and seamless integration of cutting-edge technologies. The outcomes of WP4 play a crucial role in the success of HERON and serve as a fundamental element in influencing the future of aviation through standardization and regulatory progress. HERON is part of the SESAR 3 JU “Aviation green deal<\/a><\/strong>“, the flagship that matches the objective of net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050 set by the European Green Deal<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Firstly, what achievements has your team accomplished in the last months?<\/h4>\n

In recent months, our team made significant progress, having convened internal meetings to address the collection of EASA interactions.<\/p>\n

What activities are currently underway in your working group, and what are the objectives behind them?<\/h4>\n

Currently, our working group is actively responding to the challenges faced by various projects in identifying standardisation and regulatory needs. A key initiative involves offering a workshop to external participants in January\/February, drawing on the successful educational model from SESAR 1 to guide partners in navigating the standardisation and regulatory framework.<\/p>\n

Why is the work that you are carrying out important in the aviation field and for HERON?<\/h4>\n

The work we are undertaking is paramount in the aviation field and, specifically, for HERON. The HERON activities necessitate an updated regulatory and standardisation framework with ample lead time to support planned operations and deployments.<\/p>\n

In conclusion, what results do you expect from your WP in the near future?<\/h4>\n

Looking ahead, our WP anticipates delivering substantial outcomes by January 2024. We aim to present a comprehensive report detailing the alignment and compliance levels of various developments within the activity with relevant Standards and Regulations. This report will also propose potential corrective measures, ensuring a robust foundation for the future phases of the project.<\/p>\n
