The HUCAN project held a successful workshop in Rome on 14th and 15th May 2024. The workshop brought together key stakeholders from the SESAR research community, including representatives from other SESAR projects funded under the “Capacity on demand and dynamic airspace” flagship.
The workshop was also an opportunity to hold the first in-person meeting of the flagship itself, where SESAR representatives presented the state-of-the-art and future plans for sharing the new Masterplan.
The main outcome of the two-day workshop was the identification of the certification issues for each solution and concept that SESAR projects are studying in these months related to advanced automation technologies or the use of artificial intelligence, as well as the ethical and methodological implications of these.
These outcomes will form the basis of HUCAN’s next steps, which will focus on developing new certification methods for ATM systems that take into account the human-centred and AI-powered nature of these technologies. HUCAN continues to push the boundaries in ATM, ensuring that the integration of advanced technologies prioritises both safety and efficiency in future airspace management.
