HUCAN, the EU-funded project focused on AI innovation and certification in aviation, participated for the second consecutive year in the SESAR Walking Tours at Airspace World 2025, the premier global event for ATM, held in Lisbon from 13 to 15 May.

With over 7,000 participants from across the global aviation sector, Airspace World 2025 served as a key platform for sharing progress in future ATM technologies. A major highlight of the SESAR JU presence was the organisation of 17 thematic walking tours, in partnership with the SESAR Deployment Manager, showcasing real-world applications of SESAR research and innovation.

On 14 May, Sebastian Schier-Morgenthal, Head of the Air Traffic Controller Assistance Department at the German Aerospace Center (DLR), represented HUCAN in the tour titled “Capacity on demand – dynamic solutions for a demanding sky.” The tour addressed scalable and flexible ATM solutions powered by automation and AI.

The focus of HUCAN’s contribution was to present its holistic approach to supporting the certification of AI and advanced automation solutions in aviation. Starting from the early design stages, HUCAN promotes a development path that aligns with the EASA AI Strategy, ensuring trust, transparency, and safety across AI-enabled systems.

By participating in this high-visibility tour, HUCAN reinforced its commitment to future-proofing AI adoption in aviation through certification-ready innovation and close cooperation with regulatory stakeholders.
