data-path-to-node=\"4\">We are excited to announce that the RESPONSE project team has published a new scientific paper in the <strong><i data-path-to-node=\"4\" data-index-in-node=\"135\">Lecture Notes in Computer Science (LNCS)<\/i> series by Springer<\/strong>. Presented in the context of the <a href=\"https:\/\/research.dblue.it\/response\/2025\/07\/02\/response-hcii-2025\/\"><b data-path-to-node=\"4\" data-index-in-node=\"228\">HCII 2025<\/b><\/a> conference, the work titled <i data-path-to-node=\"4\" data-index-in-node=\"266\">&#8220;Safe Return-to-Land Operations in Future Cockpits: An Analysis of Cases and Mitigation Technologies&#8221;<\/i> offers a critical look at <strong>safety mechanisms for next-generation aviation.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"5\">As air travel grows, increasing demand for pilots and ATC operators requires greater automation. <strong>Autonomous systems<\/strong> can help manage traffic, reduce crew sizes, and enable a transition from dual pilot operations to reduced crew, single pilot, or full autonomy. A major challenge is ensuring effective <strong>human-autonomy teaming.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This paper provides a comprehensive analysis of:<\/p>\n<ul data-path-to-node=\"6\">\n<li>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"6,0,0\">t<em>he transition from current dual-pilot operations to future autonomous paradigms;<\/em><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"6,1,0\"><em>specific use cases involving partial and full pilot incapacitation;<\/em><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"6,2,0\"><em>key mitigation technologies designed to guarantee a Safe Return-to-Land even in emergency scenarios.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"7\">This study is a core component of the RESPONSE mission. By investigating <b data-path-to-node=\"7\" data-index-in-node=\"107\">Human-Autonomy Teaming<\/b> and cognitive assessment methods, the paper reinforces our efforts to develop systems that can effectively monitor pilot states and manage air-ground integration.
