From April 15th to 18th, Dublin hosted one of the most significant gatherings in the sector of transportation research, the Transport Research Arena (TRA) 2024, one of the major European conferences on transport and mobility. Focused on the theme “Transport Transitions: Advancing Sustainable and Inclusive Mobility,” TRA covered all transportation modes and aspects of mobility.

This biennial event brought together researchers, policymakers, industry experts and stakeholders from across Europe and beyond to discuss the latest advancements and challenges in the transport sector.

At TRA 2024, the aviation industry took center stage, representing both the challenges and opportunities in modern transportation. Discussions focused on sustainability, with pressure to reduce the industry’s ecological footprint. Researchers and industry leaders showcased initiatives for cleaner fuels, enhanced aircraft efficiency, and alternative propulsion technologies like electric and hydrogen-powered aircraft.

Digitalization was also a key theme, highlighting AI, blockchain, and IoT technologies to streamline operations, improve safety, and enhance the air traffic controllers’ work experience.

In this regard, TRUSTY participated at the event being part of the SESAR 3 Joint Undertaking booth, aimed at showcasing its latest initiatives involved in delivering a unique digital european sky. Through different communication materials, TRUSTY got the chance to raise awareness on the theme of Remote digital tower (RDT) and the importance of trustworthiness of Artificial intelligence decisions in their context. 

By harnessing the power of collaboration, innovation, and technological advancement, TRA 2024 reaffirmed Europe’s commitment to shaping a more sustainable, efficient, and resilient transportation system for generations to come.
