At the beginning of June 2024, partners of the TRUSTY project<\/span> convened for their <\/span>first in-person consortium meeting <\/b>at the <\/span>University of Rome, La Sapienza<\/b>. This event marked a significant milestone for the collaborative research effort aimed at advancing <\/span>trustworthy AI technologies<\/b>. Throughout the days of June 3rd and 4th, participants engaged in a series of workshops and sessions designed to chart the course for future advancements in AI technologies.<\/span><\/p>\n

Day 1. Dynamic discussions and insightful workshops<\/b><\/h4>\n

Partners and colleagues from La Sapienza extended a warm welcome. <\/span>Mobyen Uddin Ahmed<\/b>, project coordinator for <\/span>M\u00e4lardalen University (MDU) <\/b>from Sweden, provided an overview of the project’s <\/span>goals<\/b> and current <\/span>status<\/b>. The agenda featured an in-depth exploration of the <\/span>TRUSTY RoadMap<\/b> led by <\/span>\u00c9cole nationale de l’aviation civile (ENAC)<\/b> from France, focusing on defining strategic directions. During the workshop, ENAC guided the project through several key phases: they covered requirement analysis, design and development phases, and gathered feedback. <\/span>DEEP BLUE<\/b> from Italy facilitated a session on ‘<\/span>User Evaluation\/Trust in System,’<\/b> aligning methodologies critical to building trusted AI systems.
\n<\/span>Finally, following the technical activities, the day concluded with social activities and a consortium dinner, fostering networking opportunities and informal discussions.<\/span><\/p>\n


\nDay 2. Hands-on exploration of AI-powered systems<\/b><\/h4>\n

<\/b>Day two featured focused sessions that provided deep insights into various project features. The agenda commenced with ENAC and M\u00e4lardalen University (MDU) presenting the definition, specifications, and<\/span> state of the art <\/b>of <\/span>eXplainable AI (XAI) <\/b>and <\/span>Responsible Data Techniques (RDTs)<\/b>, including the roadmap results from the previous workshop. Following this, MDU highlighted the evolving landscape of <\/span>AI ethics<\/b> and <\/span>transparency needs<\/b> in decision-making processes during another workshop on trusted intelligent system development. ENAC then explored <\/span>AI-powered human\u2013machine collaboration and teaming<\/b>. The day concluded with <\/span>DEEP BLUE<\/b> presenting a status update on <\/span>dissemination, communication, and exploitation activities<\/b> around the project.<\/span>

\n<\/span>Throughout both days, participants had the unique opportunity to engage with <\/span>Ranko Radovanovic<\/b>, EB President at Air Traffic Control Union, who provided invaluable insights as a direct user of the proposed tools in <\/span>aviation operations<\/b>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Looking ahead: dissemination and future steps<\/b><\/h4>\n

As the meeting concluded, the consortium is preparing to showcase its findings at upcoming conferences and engage with key stakeholders and related projects. Participants departed with renewed enthusiasm, having forged new collaborations and laid the groundwork for future efforts. The TRUSTY consortium remains committed to advancing<\/span> trustworthy AI solutions<\/b> that meet societal needs and align with proposed expectations through ongoing work.<\/span><\/p>\n
