From 27 to 30 November 2023, EALU-AER took part in the 13th SESAR Innovation Days in Sevilla, Spain. The SIDs, organised by SESAR 3 Joint Undertaking, are one of the most influential events within European aviation research and the main vehicle to share progress and disseminate results.
The poster exhibition gave us the possibility to discuss the project’s objectives and ongoing activities, such as demonstrations, our joint efforts with other SESAR 3 JU projects to build a harmonised pan-European deployment of U-Space, and how EALU-AER is engaging towards the exploration of societal acceptance in Ireland, which is crucial for the success of Urban Air Mobility.
Meeting with the US Federal Aviation Administration
A significant highlight of the event is the EALU-AER participation in the EU-US Coordination Committee (CCOM) as part of the U-space Coordination Cell, an initiative by SESAR aiming to coordinate and exchange information with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) about the Unmanned Aircraft System Traffic Management (UTM) projects being run in the US. During the meeting, representatives engaged in impactful discussions, exemplifying a commitment to global innovation exchange.
The FAA and SESAR 3 JU representatives, including the EALU-AER project, already met in February 2023 to lay the foundation for ongoing exchanges, symbolizing the dedication to collaborative progress. In this meeting, key topics included ConOps 4.0 of U-space, UTM ConOps 2.0, and Urban Air Mobility (UAM) ConOps 2.0.
These collaborative efforts aim to propel the development of the UAM-UTM industry, fostering a harmonized approach to innovation on both sides of the Atlantic.
