CONTEXT 2
Adoption of a New Process
CONTEXT 2
Adoption of a New Process
Description
The regular production process is overruled by the adoption of new tools, machines or procedures in order to produce completely new products, resulting in a need to promptly adapt to the new production needs. Internal workers need to drastically change their regular tasks and learn new skills in order for the adaptation to happen smoothly. New workers are likely to come from other internal departments or external organisations to support the new production process. The production will not reverse back to the original set up once the reconfiguration need has ended (i.e., the modification is permanent).
Main challanges
Re-assessment of all areas of the production to identify the extent of impact and necessary actions
Adjustments of the majority of production processes
Fast reskilling and upskilling of all workers
Adaptation of all workers to new working conditions
impact
- The majority of the working processes and procedures surrounding the production change significantly
- All members of staff need some training to perform the tasks on the modified line
