DIALOG reports on the successful November review meeting with SESAR JU, highlighting ongoing technical integration, system readiness steps, and the critical Human-in-the-Loop validation planned for March 2026.
Year-End Highlight: The Project Review
As a new month of intensive work begins, we want to share an important November milestone that is now defining our path forward: the successful conclusion of our Project Review Meeting with the SESAR Joint Undertaking (SESAR JU).
This review (held on November 14th) was a crucial moment for evaluating the overall project progress and aligning our roadmap towards DIALOG’s core mission: to enhance Human-AI collaboration for safety and efficiency in Air Traffic Control (ATC).
Meeting Insights and Technical Progress
The meeting provided a comprehensive overview of the technical results achieved and the remaining project objectives. The discussion, guided by the SINTEF coordinator, benefited from the essential contribution of team members from Deep Blue, Direction Generale de l’Aviation Civile, ONERA – The French Aerospace Lab, DFS Deutsche Flugsicherung GmbH, and Radboud University Nijmegen, confirming the strength and focus of the work executed so far.
Current Phase: System Readiness
We are currently working intensely to prepare our “Teamwork Assistant” for final testing and validation. Our technical focus is on the essential steps required for system readiness:
-
Finalization of Testing: Executing initial tests with Air Traffic Controllers (ATCOs) and implementing the feature freeze.
-
System Integration: Concentrating on integrating the DIALOG Services into the Teamwork Assistant to ensure seamless system operation across all components.
-
Preparation Runs: Commencing pre-dry run and dry run phases, which are crucial steps before the official validation exercises.
Next Critical Milestone: Human-in-the-Loop Validation (March 2026)
Our major objective is in sight: the Human-in-the-Loop validation exercises are set for March 2026. This will be the critical phase where we test how our adaptive AI successfully understands the ATCO’s cognitive state to provide optimally timed support, thereby increasing operational efficiency.
Engagement and Acknowledgments
We extend a sincere thank you to the entire SESAR JU team for their invaluable supervision and continued support. Their guidance is essential to the success of the DIALOG project.
