On 27 and 28 September the HERON project team met for a two-day face-to-face meeting in Bastia, Corsica to collectively assess the overall progress of the project and plan future activities.
The gathering served as an occasion for fostering collaboration and providing a platform for partners to share their individual progress. The meeting also offered a valuable opportunity for team members to meet face-to-face, as well as to encourage stronger connections. Such moments are crucial for re-energizing teams, allowing everyone to step back, reassess, and move forward.
The setting for the meeting was particularly well-received, providing an ideal environment for constructive discussions and collaborative planning. In the spirit of updates, it’s noteworthy to mention a change in leadership. We extend our sincere appreciation to Mattia Nurisso for his dedicated leadership and welcome Benjamin Tessier from Airbus as the new Project Coordinator, with whom we look forward to working for the upcoming years.
Launched in November 2022, HERON approaches its first-year milestone. By December 2025, the project targets deploying initiatives to reduce CO2 emissions in air transport, fostering more efficient aircraft operations both in the air and on the ground. Specifically, the project aims to operate within 5 demonstration areas: Integrated 4D for Green Trajectories, Green Surface Operations Management, Optimised Approaches, Improved Trajectory Planning, and ADS-C Common Services.
Stay tuned for more updates as we advance together towards a more sustainable aviation!
