On 5 and 6 November, HERON project partners gathered in Rome, Italy, for their annual two-day face-to-face meeting, hosted by Enav, the Italian Air Navigation Service Provider.
The meeting provided a valuable opportunity to review the latest advancements across each project exercise, aligning on overall progress as HERON enters its third and final year. With 2025 expected to be a busy year, the project team is preparing for a series of demonstrations across Europe which operate within HERON’s five core demonstration areas: Integrated 4D for Green Trajectories, Green Surface Operations Management, Optimised Approaches, Improved Trajectory Planning, and ADS-C Common Services.

In addition to technical discussions, partners participated in workshops to shape next year’s communication and dissemination activities, including open days and participation in international events such as the SESAR Innovation Days 2024 happening in Rome from 12 to 15 November. They also reviewed metrics and methods for assessing CO₂ impact, a key component of HERON’s sustainability goals.
Benjamin Tessier, Project Coordinator from Airbus affirms that “this milestone meeting highlighted the HERON project’s substantial progress, marking a promising transition into its conclusive year where all planned deliverables will come to fruition. HERON remains firmly committed to deploying high-impact operational solutions that will enhance Air Traffic Management performance and efficiency”.
