How can humans and Artificial Intelligence (AI) work together to make European skies safer, smarter, and more efficient? This question was at the heart of the upcoming online webinar “Human–AI Teaming in Aviation: Developing the Next Generation of EU Digital Assistants”. The webinar took place on 29 October 2025, from 9:30 to 12:30 CET, online.
Exploring the Future of Human–AI Teaming
Organised by Deep Blue and supported by Engage2, this interactive event brought together several SESAR Joint Undertaking–funded research projects TADA, JARVIS, CODA, and RESPONSE. In fact, the webinar’s focus was to discuss how AI can effectively support aviation professionals in air traffic control and cockpit operations.
To do so, each project presented its own approach to developing Digital Assistants. Indeed, innovative AI-powered tools are supporting operators in many fields to enhance human performance, improve safety, and pave the way for higher levels of automation.

TADA’s Role in the Event
Represented by Deep Blue, TADA shared insights from its validation activities. Specifically, TADA highlighted its work on the development of a Digital Assistant for Terminal Manoeuvring Areas (TMAs). Moreover, TADA explored how Machine Learning and explainable AI (XAI) can be used to support air traffic controllers, and how different Human–AI teaming setups can ensure safe, transparent, and trustworthy automation.
