The SPATIO project was invited to participate in the International Civil Aviation Organization’s (ICAO) first Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) Symposium held from September 9 to 12, 2024, in Montréal, Canada. At the SESAR Joint Undertaking stand, SPATIO was represented by Christoph Selig from Unisphere, Vadim Kramar from VTT, and Andrew Hately from EUROCONTROL. Their participation highlighted SPATIO’s innovative contributions to the rapidly evolving field of AAM, drawing attention to its potential impact on global aviation infrastructure, by enhancing safety through its solutions for separation management.

The symposium, themed “Advanced air mobility (AAM) global harmonization and interoperability: Challenges and opportunities“, aimed to build upon the achievements of ICAO’s DRONE ENABLE series, diving into critical aspects of AAM development. Topics such as electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft, vertiports, automation, trust frameworks, and airspace integration were thoroughly examined. SPATIO’s representatives actively engaged with attendees to share insights on these areas and discussed the project’s alignment with global harmonization efforts.

Bringing together key industry stakeholders, government representatives, academic experts, and international organizations, the AAM 2024 event provided a platform for exchanging research, best practices, and lessons learned across sectors. SPATIO’s presence at the symposium not only underscored its role in advancing AAM but also facilitated valuable networking opportunities, allowing the project team to connect with other leaders driving innovation in aviation’s next frontier.
