This webinar aims to inspire and raise awareness of advanced UAS separation management, from strategic to tactical phases, complemented by demand and capacity balancing measures and fairness rules driven by social impact protection. The safe separation of aircraft is one of the core functions of Air Traffic Management (ATM) today. As more unmanned aerial systems (UAS) take to the skies, separation management will become increasingly important to avoid mid-air collisions.

The SPATIO project will go beyond the current UAS regulation by building on the work of previous SESAR exploratory and very large-scale demonstration projects such as DACUS, BUBBLES and TindAIR. SPATIO’s solutions will have an impact on the entire drone industry, from UAS manufacturers, UAS operators, Common Information Service providers, U-space service providers enabling market growth, as well as current airspace users.Overall, SPATIO solutions will benefit the safe and secure simultaneous UAS operations in high-risk areas such as airport vicinities, thus facilitating the societal acceptance of these operations in urban environments.

SESAR JU U-space and Urban Air Mobility webinar series will provide an overview of each individual SESAR JU U-space and Urban Air Mobility project, exploring the scope, goals, and expected results, and highlighting their role in building a comprehensive, EU-wide framework for drone operations. Drones are rapidly transforming sectors like mapping, infrastructure inspection, precision agriculture, and goods delivery. U-space offers the digital and automated framework needed to safely and efficiently integrate large numbers of drones into airspace, even in congested urban environments, while ensuring compatibility with manned aviation
