From December 16th to 18th, 2025, the final validation of Solution 1B was successfully carried out in A Coruña, within the SPATIO project funded by SESAR 3 Joint Undertaking.
Up to four drone operators took part in live flight tests in this local U-space airspace, where the U3 Dynamic Capacity Management service was tested in flight for the first time by ENAIRE, CRIDA, INECO, INDRA, Sopra Steria, UPM, UPV and ITG.
As an advanced U3 service, the solution assessed the impact of each new flight plan on noise, ground risk, and airspace capacity, authorizing operations when acceptable thresholds were met and proposing optimized alternatives when limits were exceeded. This service was integrated as part of the service ecosystem provided by the CISP and the USSP, interoperating with the advanced Strategic Conflict Detection and Resolution modules as part of the UAS Flight Authorisation service.
These exercises mark a first-of-its-kind validation of this advanced U3 service in real operations, paving the way for more efficient drone operations while maintaining safety as a core principle of U-space.
