The recent FLY AI Forum, at its second edition, held on April 29th and 30th at the Eurocontrol Headquarters in Brussels, served as a important gathering for leaders shaping the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) in aviation.
Eurocontrol, in partnership with the European Commission, EASA, ASD, CANSO and other partners, spearheaded this forum, spotlighting the swift progress and practical applications of AI within aviation. Across two dynamic days, participants explored groundbreaking initiatives, with a special focus on innovative AI applications within SESAR projects.
During the forum, the TRUSTY project presented innovative solutions in artificial intelligence for aviation. Represented by Aurelie PEUAUD from ENAC, the project provided a comprehensive overview of its core principles and strategic vision. More than just a project, TRUSTY aims to improve aviation sector by harnessing the power of artificial intelligence to enhance remote digital towers, thereby ensuring safer and more efficient air traffic management.
Notable discussions showcased an array of AI applications, from tactical support for Flow Management Positions (FMP) to advanced weather prediction, NOTAM analysis, and the transcription of VHF communication to text. Additionally, stakeholders tackled essential auxiliary elements of AI adoption in air traffic control (ATC), addressing advancements in legal frameworks, harmonizing with the European Artificial Intelligence Act, harnessing synthetic data for scenarios lacking real data, and nurturing user trust.
The participation at the FLY AI Forum marks a significant milestone in the project’s development. Moving forward, we remain committed to actively engaging with industry stakeholders, refining our AI solutions, and collaborating closely with regulatory bodies to ensure the safe and efficient integration of AI technologies in air traffic management.
